The Monongalia County Planning Office and the Monongalia County Floodplain Office have been experiencing  intermittent phone connection issues.

  • On November 25, 2020 the County Commission heard the following case: Case Ma 001-2020: Request for an Amendment to the West Run Planning District Zoning Map from Industrial (M-2) to General Commercial (C-2) for the properties legally described as Morgan Tax Map 4A, Parcels 19 and 19.1.The County Commission approved this request. Changes to the official document are forthcoming.
  • On December 9, 2020 the MCPC will hear the following cases:

    Case DSI 002-2020: A proposal to consider a Development of Significant Impact review for the property legally described as Morgan Tax Map 8A parcel 60. The applicant is proposing to install 42 townhomes on 2.22 acres.

    Case DSI 003-2020: A proposal to consider a Development of Significant Impact review for the property legally described as Union Tax Map 12K Parcels 1 through 12. The applicant is proposing to install 12 single family homes each on its own parcel, in lieu of the townhomes originally proposed. This is a correction of violation for a grandfathered project.  Agendas and staff reports forthcoming. 

  • The MCPC was scheduled to have a meeting August 12th, 2020 at 6pm via teleconference at number 732-434-3893. A public hearing for DSI 001-2020 was to be held. This is in addition to a previously approved CUP and Variance for the same site. THIS MEETING IS NOW CANCELLED!
  • The BZA was scheduled to have a meeting August 19th, 2020 at 6pm via teleconference at number 732-434-3893. A public hearing for CUP 003-2020 was to be held. THIS MEETING IS NOW CANCELLED!  
  • The BZA is looking for members. Must live within the West Run Planning District. Please email for more details.

PSA: The Subdivision and Land Development Regulations are now in their final draft form which can be found here in PDF form. Appendix A (Definitions) can be found here. Appendix B (Parking) can be found here.  Appendix C (Fee Schedule) can be found here. This draft is a working document released only for public review and comment, as is, and not intended to constitute the final draft adopted by the County Commission nor should it be substituted for any current legislative requirements. The redline can be found here. The final draft comes after having held numerous public meetings late last year, a developer round table, and extensive review for compliance with WV 8A, the supervisory state code. The next step will be the public hearing. Please see below for a new time line for the next few months regarding these regulations.

This presentation outlines what changes have been made from the prior version presented to the County Commission back in August 2019, the proposed fee structure, and how there will be a way to apply online.

Along with the proposed subdivision regulations, MCPC staff have created a set of guidelines to help developers, surveyors, and other applicants better understand what is required by the regulations.  PSA: WV's Region Six Planning and Development Council, which includes Mon Co, has completed the survey on Broadband Needs. They have issued a report on the survey.
