Stewartstown Boundry Map
The Stewartstown Planning District is situated between the Monongahela and Cheat Rivers. The District is bounded to the north by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and then south along the rivers to the West Run and Cheat Lake Planning Districts.
The Stewartstown Planning District contains the most rural landscapes of the four planning districts. Comprised primarily of large countryside homesteads and a few low density neighborhood subdivisions, Stewartstown has not experienced the proliferation of development found in the other planning districts due to its many remote areas and limited public infrastructure.
State Route 119 provides easy access to points south including I68 and Morgantown. The Monongalia County Board of Education's construction of University High School along the boundary of West Run and Stewartstown Planning Districts is expected to increase the marketability of high density housing developments and commercial uses in the area.
The Stewartstown Planning District Advisory Committee (now defunct) had reached out to residents within the community and found strong interest in protecting their rural setting. However, residents remain passionate in preserving individual property rights. The Committee will be reactiavted to achieve the preservation of rural characteristics while respecting property owners' rights should the people of the district request it.
