The Monongalia County Commission meets at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesdays. An informal work session follows to give the Commissioners an opportunity to meet with individuals or organizations to discuss ideas that may later be before the Commission during a regular session for further discussion and a vote. No decisions are made during these informal sessions.
Generally, ideas and issues are presented during the work session. Anyone who would like to appear at a work session or general agenda must make an appointment by the close of business the Friday prior to the meeting. For an appointment, please phone the County Commissioners’ Office at (304) 291-7257. Prior to adjournment of a regular meeting, there is time set aside for comments from the public.
Commissions throughout the State are only required to hold four regular sessions each year. All meetings must be conducted at the Courthouse and are open to the public. Special meetings may be called by the president with the concurrence of at least one other commission and must be posted and made known to the public 48 hours in advance of the meeting. An agenda listing the specific item to be discussed must be displayed. Only those items listed may be discussed and/or acted upon.
The Commission will entertain requests to hold meetings in locations throughout the County upon request. No official action can be taken during these meetings.
